EMBODIED SHAKESPEARE

A workshop physically exploring the work of William Shakespeare.

Analysis of Shakespeare’s work can often leave us stuck in our heads with the language, historical context and challenging narratives getting in the way of our understanding and enjoyment of some of the greatest dialogue ever written. By incorporating a playful physical approach to our exploration we can deepen both our understanding and appreciation of Shakespeare’s plays. This workshop uses a series of physical theatre exercises to engage the body as a tool for accessing some of Shakespeare’s best-loved characters. Using text, we will re-imagine and encounter Shakespeare's words and his characters as figures relevant to a contemporary performer and audience.

The content of this workshop is physical, participants should be dressed appropriately and be prepared to be physically engaged throughout the session.
